I own about 10 books on cast iron that contain recipes....this is the best one yet! I really enjoy the fact that many of the recipes come from Lodge family members, and they share some of the family history, as well. My only complaint is that you need to search through the recipes for what cast iron piece(s) to use. I also wish that you could search in the index by cast iron type. As much as I would love to own every piece of cast iron that Lodge makes, I do not! :)

This is an excellent cookbook! I especially liked the section on Lodge family favorites. A lot of these recipes took me back to my grandmother's kitchen, and an old great Aunt that a cast-iron coal burning stove until the late 70s. Excellent recipes and fun information about the sources and Lodge family anecdotes to go with each recipe. It's also very cool to see what parts of the country these recipes come from.

I didn't really intend to buy this particular book--I simply clicked on a button to see how much it was selling for and the next screen to come up congratulated me for purchasing "The Cast Iron Skillet." I inhaled a long time after I realized what had happened because it wasn't in my very Limited Budget, but after using it for the past few weeks, I'm proud I made that mistake. It's one of the most useful books in my kitchen.

I have only used one of the recipes so far and it was excellent. The book is well layed out and the recipes are well written and easy to use. I recommend this book for anyone that enjoys using a cast iron skillet but you can use the recipes in other cookware too. Enjaoy

Very nice recipes but a lot of them call for specific spices that one usually doesn't keep in their pantry. I will say that I've bought some of the spices and the food tastes first class. It was worth the money.

It has been so fun learning to cook in my Aunt's cast iron cookware. I've made scrumptious homemade biscuits and homemade pizza, both with perfect crusts. If you plan to buy just one dog book--make it this one! I have yet to find a book as comprehensive as this. Pippa Mattinson touches on many topics from normal dog behavior and elimination to crate, clicker, and recall training. It was a quick read but full of helpful information. I felt completely comfortable bringing home our new puppy because of everything I learned in this book. I've even used some of the techniques from the book to train my 7-year-old ill-mannered Yorkie!I purchased the Kindle version because it was cheaper, but I'm thinking of adding the paperback as well because I prefer to have reference books in print. When I purchased the Kindle version I didn't realize how often I'd be returning to the book.If you want a well-rounded approach to caring for your dog or puppy, you need this book!

Awesome book, a necessary read for anyone getting a puppy. I've been a dog owner all of my life ( I'm in my 60s) and currently have a 13 yr old Scottie. This book gave me the latest information about how to raise a happy and healthy puppy. Well written with key points in a summary at the end of each chapter. I'm adding a Scottie puppy to my family in January 2017 and will be reading and rereading this great book. A must for every puppy owner

I always check the negative reviews on a guidebook like this before I buy, and I was hesitant when I read that this book "needed an editor" because of grammatical errors...I'm so glad I bought anyway! I have a feeling the reviewer just didn't understand that the Happy Puppy Handbook was written by a British author and therefore has British colloquialisms and spellings.I'm not bringing home a Labrador puppy, but when I read the line "For weeks or months you have thought about and prepared for this wonderful occasion" I thought "YES! This book is for me." This is a great read for the planner-type who makes lists, plans ahead, bought their dog's crate and collar months before they were born (yes, I'm guilty) and wants to do the best possible job for their puppy. I'm eight weeks out from being able to bring home my puppy, and it was the perfect timing to read this book.I had dogs growing up, but always rescue pups and have never brought home an 8 week old puppy. This resource has been wonderful and my confidence is growing with every chapter. There is a little additional information/caution that I think is breed specific, regarding stairs and hip dysplasia, but even though this isn't a primary concern for my chosen breed (Dalmatian) I appreciated the advice, because better safe than sorry.I hope my Dal is as happy and well-adjusted as Pippa's Labradors must be, and with the advice in this book I feel like we're already halfway there.

Absolutely loved this book! Well laid out and well written. I found her methods to be very easy to understand and practical to apply. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone getting a puppy for the first time or to those who haven't had a puppy in a while and need a refresher course.

Pippa Mattinson is very thorough with background information and her books are a great way to move toward positive training. Follow her training programs in this and "Total Recall" and you will get a better dog.

When I was touring in Europe, I noticed how many people had dogs and how well behaved the dogs were. There were even some restaurants that had dog dishes and a place to leave the dogs while you ate. So, the question is: How come in the US especially the country portions, are our dogs not as well behaved?Therefore, this book is done very well for me to train a puppy to be very well behaved.
